Banowetz + Company recently took on a pro bono project for Dallas’ Shelton School, helping them with branding and promotional materials for their annual fundraiser and live auction. Typically the event theme encompasses a “stampede” since the school mascot is a charger. This year’s theme was “Bringing the Stampede Home,” with the event to be held on school property in order to reduce overhead. It was to have a “truckyard chic” motif with food, drinks and decor in keeping with a laid-back, “Austin-cool” look and feel. We were tasked with the creation of a logo, invitation, raffle tickets, promotional materials and event signage that had a casual, yet trendy feel.
The chosen logo made appropriate use of a black chalkboard background, which became a common denominator that tied all of the elements together. Fun typography, texture and limited color gave the layouts a down-to-earth, cost-conscious look, while still appearing thoughtfully designed.
The raffle and live auction were a huge success, and we were thrilled to learn that our materials were well received. The school raised record-level funds which will go to enrich the education of the students at Shelton. All in all, we think the work turned out quite nicely and deserves an “A+.”
